Foster a love for learning in your child! Ms. Alicia will create fun, engaging activities that improve reading, writing, math, and science skills, while instilling an appreciation for learning and knowledge.
We will work together to identify your child's specific needs and create a customized plan to teach your child emotional regulation skills. Ms. Alicia will implement empathy education, social-emotional learning, and positive youth development in the form of games, activities and conversations to instill confidence and competence in your child.
Creating a strong foundation of trust, self love and self awareness will ensure that your child can make better decisions in the long term. By promoting resiliency and self determination, Ms. Alicia will help build a strong sense of self in your child to help them navigate complex scenarios for the rest of their lives.
Our society, and often the patterns that we create, are out of balance. In an effort to promote balance and relieve tension, anxiety, and to keep children and families engaged in services, Ms. Alicia uses games, activities, and adventures in all of her support services.
Outline of behavioral and family support services.
Schedule a free phone or video consultation. This is intended to see if The SELF Program would be a good fit for your family. This is the opportunity to ask questions, and outline your needs.
Ideally, the initial interview is going to take place in your home, with your entire household present. This gives Ms. Alicia the opportunity to do an evaluation of the home setting, and using the 40 developmental assets framework, create a plan to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors. Ms. Alicia takes a holistic approach, and wants to make sure that the child's needs are met in all areas of their life. During this session we will identify objectives together, and create a schedule of care, as well as complete any necessary paperwork.
Sessions can be weekly, or twice per week, depending on your needs. Sessions may take place in the office, at your home, school, parks, restaurants, etc. Each session will last 40 minutes, and consist of games, activities, and conversations that will implement positive youth development, social-emotional learning, empathy education, and more to help us reach our objectives. For individual sessions, family is welcome to be present for a portion of the session time, but one-on-one time is important to the process.
*Attending IEP/school meetings, sessions with other support professionals, court appearances, etc. will be billed separately.
At regular intervals, set based on your specific situation, the family will meet with Ms. Alicia at the home and discuss progress towards objectives. This is both to keep Ms. Alicia AND the family accountable. Change can only take place if changes are taking place. This also gives us the opportunity to expand upon current or add new objectives.
When we decide to no longer continue services, for whatever reason, we will have a meeting to discuss the progress that was made, create a plan to keep up with the concepts learned in programming, and to provide positive and negative feedback.
Whenever an objective is reached, or at the end of services, I always offer the option for a celebration of the child's choosing to recognize the progress that was made. Services like these can be taxing and leaning in to our accomplishments is important!
The Family is a system consisting of multiple people and their unique experiences and worldviews coming together. Once patterns are established within the family system, it is difficult to be aware of them. Ms. Alicia will help identify unhealthy patterns within the family system and provide support in breaking those patterns, and establishing new ones.
Families often times clash because of differences between the individuals. Instead of trying to change each other, Ms. Alicia will help families understand the beauty in their differences, and teach each family member to value and respect the needs of the others. A family is a team, and when you are able to work together from a place of love and respect, disagreements turn into learning experiences that foster connection, instead of arguments that foster resentment.
Parents often repeat parenting techniques that were used on them, without realizing that they can do things differently. And, often times, parents themselves didn't have their needs met when they were children. Parenting differently can be an avenue for giving our inner child the love and care that we didn't receive. Ms. Alicia will use her education and experience to help break generational cycles, and heal generational trauma.
Tension within the family system can take a toll on everybody. Ms. Alicia understands the importance of having fun, playing, and sharing joy within the family. As an effort to restore balance, relieve tension, and to break patterns, Ms. Alicia will use games, activities, and adventures as an avenue for learning and reshaping the family system.
